Iris Capital, the new owner of Lasseters Casino in Alice Springs, has added 132 new slot machines. It has more than doubled the casino’s total number of “pokies.”
Lasseters now has 320 slot machines. It makes the Northern Territory the second-largest state in Australia in terms of slot machines per resident. Under current laws, Northern Territory casinos are not required to submit an application to increase their slot quota.
Iris has only been the casino owner for a month, having purchased it from Quilter Assets for an estimated A$105 million. Lasseters International Holdings’ subsidiary, Ford Dynasty, has agreed to sell Lasseters Hotel Casino to Iris Capital, which has a strong presence in the Australian hospitality sector.
Lasseters Hôtel Casino has been a vital part of Central Australia’s tourism industry since 1981.
The property has a 4.5-star hotel with 205 rooms operated under a franchise with internationally recognized InterContinental Hôtel Group. It also facilitates plus 320 electronic gaming machines and multiple Restaurants and bars.
