In addition to Rodgers, the Steelers are also sitting backup QB Mason Rudolph. Will Howard and rookie Drew Allar are expected to play a full half for Pittsburgh.
Jets coach Aaron Glenn was noncommittal about who would play and for how long. Geno Smith is QB1, but rookie Cade Klubnik could see significant action, too. Smith missed the opener due to ankle soreness and might get the start tonight. New York RB Breece Hall remains sidelined with a groin injury.
Pittsburgh rates the edge tonight based on Drew Allar‘s play last week against the Packers. The Penn State product completed 10-of-13 passes for 153 yards and two TDs.
Klubnik played sparingly in New York’s 24-16 loss to Tampa Bay. The former Clemson standout could be in line for a tough night against the Steelers’ second defensive unit, which held the Packers to nine points last week.
On a night when young quarterbacks should dominate play, and prove they deserve a roster spot or higher standing on the depth chart, expect the Steelers to win this game outright.
