Despite MGM Cotai’s temporary, four-day closure due to a COVID outbreak at the end of the month, Macau’s casino industry saw a 31.4% increase month over month in October.
GGR of MOP$3.90 billion (US$481.6 million), as reported by Macau’s Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau, was down 10.7% from October 2021.
The National Day Golden Week vacation, which brought an average of 26,040 tourists per day to the SAR, helped the results by raising mass market revenues to between 30% and 35% of pre-pandemic levels.
The total revenue for the year to date is MOP$35.7bn (US$4.41bn), which is a decline of 50.5% from the results from 2021.
