Grupo CIRSA, which is owned by Blackstone, has increased its footprint in North Africa by declaring that it will be the only operator of the Tangier Casino in Morocco.
In accordance with the agreement reached with the Tanger-Tetouan municipality, CIRSA will assume operation of the 2,000 m2 hotel and casino complex known as the Tangier Casino (Casino de Tanger).
In the southern city of Agadir, where CIRSA has a well-established presence, there are two casinos that were temporarily shut down in accordance with Morocco’s COVID-19 shutdown regulations and reopened in 2022.
The Moroccan government presently permits seven casino contracts, which must be run in conjunction with an entertainment and hotel complex. Taking over the Tangier Casino’s administration, CIRSA declared that it had become Morocco’s biggest casino operator.
