Macau has seen two more junkets added to its roster of licensed gaming promoters relative to figures available in 2025. That is according to updated data published by the local casino regulator, the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau.
The newcomers are Xin Wei Lda, and Pok Lok Promoção de Jogos Lda, per the bureau’s roster updated as of March 25. The additions took Macau’s junket tally to 31, relative to last year’s 29.
But the latest aggregate is still only 62.0 percent of the 50 allowed under the local government’s market-wide junket cap for the current year.
Historically, a key commercial function of licensed junkets – known under Macau regulation as “gaming promoters” – was to issue credit to VIP players and manage credit-related risk.
But under a measure called the “Legal regime of credit concession for games of chance in casinos” – in effect since August 1, 2024 – casino concessionaires are now the only entities permitted to provide gambling credit to patrons in the Macau market.
Via the updated regulatory framework, a junket can only earn commission from introducing a player to casino operator.
The Macau government estimates that in 2026 it will collect MOP150 million (US$18.6 million) in taxes on commissions that are paid by casinos to junkets. Per the city’s 2026 fiscal budget plan, that would be a 50.0-percent increase from the MOP100 million in such taxation the government expects it will book for fiscal-year 2025.
