The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp (Pagcor), the nation’s casino regulator-cum-operator, delivered in late April a total of 12 patient-transport vehicles to various local government units (LGUs) and an army division.
The vehicles will help “strengthen emergency response capabilities, particularly in underserved communities,” the agency said in a recent press release.
Pagcor has said the donations are part of the agency’s corporate social responsibility initiatives to improve access to essential health services in the country, particularly in communities with limited resources.
The update cited Pagcor chairman and chief executive, Alejandro Tengco, as saying: “These patient transport vehicles are meant to help our local governments and frontline agencies respond more efficiently to medical emergencies.”
He added: “Through this programme, Pagcor fulfils the directive of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to help bring essential health services closer to our people, especially in areas where access remains a challenge.”
Each vehicle is equipped with basic medical and safety features, including a stretcher, oxygen tank, wheelchair, first aid kit, and navigation system, “to ensure safe and efficient patient transport,” Pagcor stated.
To date, the agency said it had donated a total of 182 patient-transport vehicles to various LGUs, partner agencies, and other institutions.
