Betway Canada has been added to Alberta’s list of operating regulated iGaming platforms, bringing the Super Group-owned brand’s sportsbook and online casino to a market with more than 30 active platforms. The Alberta iGaming Corp (AiGC) announced the addition on Monday, September 28, alongside Apollo Entertainment’s Golden Tiger Casino.
The arrivals add two brands to a competitive provincial market that launched on July 13, 2026. Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis (AGLC) regulates and oversees iGaming in the province, while the AiGC announced the additions and maintains the operating-site list.
Betway Canada added to Alberta’s regulated iGaming list
Betway will offer both sports betting and online casino products in Alberta. Its arrival places a familiar international brand in a newly opened market where registered operators are competing for customers across both verticals.
The AiGC’s announcement identified Betway Canada and Golden Tiger Casino as new sites in the regulated market and directed players to its updated list of registered platforms. The additions take place just over two months after Alberta opened the market to competing operators.
A growing field of competitors
Betway joins a roster that includes FanDuel, DraftKings, BetMGM, bet365 and Caesars. The source also reported that Stake was nearing an Alberta licence, but did not identify it as an approved operating platform.
Super Group’s brand already operates in Ontario, where it has competed with several of the same operators since that province launched its competitive iGaming market in August 2022. The company also registered Spin Casino in Alberta, although that brand was not on the province’s operating list at the time of the announcement.
Alberta became the second Canadian province, after Ontario, to move away from grey-market betting and establish a regulated framework. For operators, Betway’s addition is another sign of the breadth of brands entering the province; for customers, it adds sportsbook and casino choices to a market already hosting more than 30 active platforms.
The expansion also reflects a wider regulatory trend: jurisdictions are setting rules to distinguish authorised online gambling platforms from offshore services. Alberta’s move is part of its own provincial framework, with AGLC overseeing the sector and the AiGC announcing the newly listed sites.
