Phase 4 of Galaxy Macau (pictured), the flagship Cotai casino property run by Galaxy Entertainment Group Ltd, is expected to open in 2028, with the expansion aimed at attracting high-value consumers, particularly from feeder markets in East and Southeast Asia.
That is according to a Tuesday report by Hong Kong media outlet Ming Pao, citing a research memo from HSBC, said to be based on guidance from management of the Macau casino operator.
Phase 4 of the Cotai complex – due to be completed in 2027 and expected to open the following year – is said to focus on non-gaming offerings targeting consumers from Japan, South Korea, as well as from member states of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), Ming Pao reported, citing the HSBC note.
Phase 4 of Galaxy Macau will include a casino and approximately 1,350 rooms and suites, along with a 5000-seat theatre, a water resort deck, and additional food-and-beverage and retail offerings, according to Galaxy Entertainment’s first-quarter results filing.
GGRAsia has approached Galaxy Entertainment for comment regarding the launch timetable for Phase 4 of the Cotai property.
HSBC also suggested, citing the casino firm’s management, that the group’s luxury retail business – including high-end fashion, watches and jewellery – had benefited from “increased” demand for short-haul travel amid “geopolitical tensions”.
Galaxy Entertainment had previously told GGRAsia it remained optimistic regarding the outlook for its retail business for the remainder of 2026, with “high-end jewellery” expected to remain a “relatively strong” category.
The company said at the time that growth in first-quarter mall net revenue had been driven by luxury retail sales and “increased footfall” at its properties.
