After Scottie Scheffler ran roughshod in the St. Jude Championship, the PGA Tour’s FedEx Cup playoffs continue with this week’s BMW Championship at Bellerive Country Club in St. Louis.
Scheffler won the opening playoff event in Memphis by eight strokes over runner-up Si Woo Kim. The world’s No. 1 player is a short betting favorite this week in St. Louis. The top-50 in points advanced to the BMW Championship.

Best Bet on Favorite to Win BMW Championship
Scottie Scheffler (+300)
Scheffler’s dominance in Memphis was something to behold. He tied the course record at TPC Southwind, shooting a 61 in the second round of the St. Jude Championship.
Entering yesterday’s final round with a two-stroke lead over Sam Burns and Sungjae Im, Scheffler pulled away to finish at 17 under par. Burns and Im both faded badly in the hot and humid conditions in Memphis.
Scheffler has been the betting favorite in every tournament he’s entered this season. Scheffler is also the defending champion of the BMW Championship, but it was played at Caves Valley Golf Club in Maryland last year.
It might not matter what course this event is being played on, given Scheffler’s recent dominance. He’s posted top-five finishes in five of his last six starts.
Best Bet on Sleeper to Win BMW Championship
Hideki Matsuyama +2700
Hideki Matsuyama‘s current form is terrific, too, as the former Masters champion has reeled off four consecutive top-7 finishes.
- 3M Open (T-3)
- Rocket Classic (T-5)
- Wyndham Championship (T-7)
- St. Jude Championship (T-7)
Matsuyama is building toward his first win of the season. The last time Matsuyama played at Bellerive, he posted a 66 in the final round of the 2018 PGA Championship.
He’s recorded some serious metrics this season:
- Bounce Back (1st)
- Total birdies (6th at 346)
- SG: Around-the-Green (11th)
- SG: Total (19th)
Nobody on tour is better than Matsuyama in the Bounce-Back metric, which measures how often a player follows up a bad hole (bogey or worse) with a terrific hole (birdie or better). He converts at 29.35%.
Best Bet on Longshot to Win BMW Championship
Adam Scott (+5800)
Adam Scott will have good vibes heading back to Bellerive after finishing third here in the 2018 PGA Championship. Scott is also coming off a solid T-12 finish in Memphis.
The Australian star has excelled in his last two starts in the BMW Championship, finishing runner-up in 2024 and fifth in 2022. Scott notably led both events after 36 holes.
At 46, Scott still has one of the sweetest swings on tour. If he can dial in his putting (pictured above), he could finally land in the BMW Championship winner’s circle after coming so close in recent years.
Matsuyama is an elite ball striker with a world-class short game, ranking 6th for SG: Around The Green in the last three months, so I like has chances on this difficult golf course.
