Stake makes Argentina its fifth Latin American market

Stake has made its debut in the Argentine betting sector, launching in the province of Buenos Aires as it continues a global push into regulated markets.

Launching in Argentina comes four weeks after the Australia-founded, Curaçao-headquartered online sportsbook and casino set up shop in Mexico and just under three months after entering Denmark.

The launch also comes ahead of the FIFA World Cup kicking off next week, with Argentina expected, as usual, to put in a strong performance – one which will likely galvanise a lot of sports fans and bettors back home.

“Argentina is an important market for us and a natural next step in our expansion across Latin America,” said Diana Otalora, Stake’s Latin America General Manager.

“There is an incredibly passionate sporting culture, a large and digitally engaged population and strong long-term potential for Stake.”

Stake’s sights set on LatAm

Stake has built up a reputation as one of the world’s largest online sportsbooks and casinos over the past few years, though this reputation has not gone by without controversy.

The firm has had an extensive presence in grey markets for some time via its Curacao licence. The company was founded in Australia and is a subsidiary of Easygo Group Holdings, which also operates streaming platform Kick.

Actions in 2026 show that Stake is keen to acquire more local licences as it expands globally – thougha marketing controversy in Denmark showed that this would not be an entirely smooth process.

Latin America is an important region for Stake. Launching in Argentina’s Buenos Aires province follows the aforementioned launch in Mexico, while the firm is also active in Brazil, Colombia and Peru.

Stake is confident that it will be able to capitalise on the strong sporting culture in Buenos Aries, as well as the province’s status as Argentina’s most significant economic region and home to some 17 million people.

“We’ve continued to build momentum across Latin America in recent years, and this launch reflects our ambition to establish Stake as the leading entertainment brand in the region,” Otalora added.

“Argentina is a market with energy and identity and we’re excited to bring our world-class sportsbook and casino experience to players through stake.bet.ar.”

The launch of a new regulated platform may be welcomed by local regulators in Argentina, where concerns about illegal gambling and predictions markets have abounded in recent months.

The City Lottery of Buenos Aires (LOTBA) is the regulator of betting and gaming in the Argentine capital, a separate legal jurisdiction to the province where Stake has just launched.

Its case against Polymarket resulted in Argentina becoming the first country to pursue action against prediction markets, and shortly afterwards told SBC News that it considers the battle against the black market to be one of its most pressing regulatory tasks.
