Nigel Morrison will join Crown Resorts as executive director. The resort made the announcement after all approvals.
Morrison was Skycity Entertainment Group CEO previously. He will join the board of directors immediately.
Morrison is the company’s first prominent appointment. Since its latest regulatory issues. Bergin report declared Crown Resorts unfit to hold a state casino license. As a result, five directors left the group.
The new appointment was first announced back in January. Nigel Morrison will add his experience to its board. He previously held roles as CEO of the SkyCity Entertainment Group, and CFO of Galaxy Entertainment Group. He was also COO of Crown Melbourne Limited.
The Bergin report recommended the addition of a gaming experience to Crown’s board. It was necessary to operate its services.
ILGA chair Philip Crawford made a statement on this. “I would expect to see people with expertise in casinos. People with vast experience. Knowledge of the Corporations Act as directors. I think they need talented people with specific experience.”
Crown Resorts recently received a $6bn acquisition offer from Blackstone Group. The company is making an assessment of future sale options. The new directorial board could prove an important step in its promising future.
