Sisal operates SuperEnalotto in Italy. It will lead a company including the private investment firm CVC Capital Partners. They will bid to operate the National Lottery in the U.K as The Telegraph reported, without disclosing the source of information.
They will contend against Camelot, the license will run for 10 years from 2023. Another bidder is Czech gambling company Sazka which has joined hands with Apollo Global Management, according to the report.
Camelot has operated the National Lottery ever since its launch. The period is more than a quarter of a century ago. The Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan now held Camelot, originally a British-led group.
Sisal has newly begun bidding abroad. In the past two years, it has won mandates in Turkey and Morocco. It had also kept its license at home, The Telegraph reported.
