Cambodia – Macau Legend seeks a solution after a land deal in Siem Reap falls through

After announcing a deal to purchase land for a resort casino in Cambodia in 2019, Macau Legend Development has confirmed that the deal has yet to complete. It says that it is negotiating a solution with the seller.

Earlier, the company announced to spend $90 m to purchase several parcels of land in Cambodia’s Siem Reap Province. It also planned to build an integrated resort (IR) in it.

Ros Phirun, Deputy Director-General of Cambodia’s Ministry of Economy stated: “Siem Reap does not permit the gambling business. The question is whether or not the integrated resort investment plan includes a casino. However, it is fine if there is no casino or gambling activity in the project.”
