While pleased with the rebound in second-quarter revenue, Macau operator Galaxy Entertainment has confirmed that COVID has delayed the unveiling of Galaxy Macau Phase 3 until 2022.
The company stated that the project will have a delay due to workforce access restrictions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The project will include the Galaxy International Convention Center, several hotels, more shops, and additional gaming space.
“The pandemic is still not fully under control. Hence, it is very difficult to determine the exact date of the opening. It is because the pandemic determines our access to building materials and workers coming to Macau,” explained Galaxy Vice Chairman Francis Lui. We are doing our best to manage it within our capabilities. And we hope to have a part of the Phase 3 project commissioned and open by early next year.”
