Genting Singapore, the operator of Resorts World Sentosa in Singapore, increased its revenue by 24% to $554.8m beginning of 2021. This reversed the net loss to a net profit of $88.2 million. This is an improvement over the previous year’s corresponding period, when most operations at Resorts World Sentosa (RWS) ceased for nearly three months.
According to the company, “this arose from the Circuit Breaker period. It was a directive from the Singapore Government in 2020 to contain the spread of the COVID-19 virus. With cross-border travel restricted in our traditional markets, most of RWS’s key offerings continued to operate at significantly lower levels. While Singapore gradually reopened its economy, the new virus variant prompted the Multi-Ministry Taskforce to reintroduce stricter measures.
