Tekkorp Capital is teaming up with News Corp Australia and online sports betting pioneer Matt Tripp, the former founder and Chairman of Sportsbet and CEO of BetEasy, to form game-changing new sports betting enterprise.
Matt Davey’s investment fund and strategic consultancy firm, Tekkorp Capital, advised on the deal and will be a substantial investor in this exciting new venture. Davey and Tekkorp Capital President Robin Chhabra’s substantial experience in the Australian online wagering sector and track record of success in producing value from media-wagering collaborations would also help the business succeed. Both executives will join the new company’s board of directors.
Tripp, a star in Australian online sports betting, was drawn to this consortium by the strength of the team members and their ability to continue his unrivaled track record of producing innovative products and experiences for Australian clients.
The exclusive platform and services provider has been chosen as BetMakers Technology Group, a global developer of wagering technology solutions.
Matt Davey of Tekkorp Capital, an Australian with 25 years of experience building early-stage startups into global powerhouses, said:
“The new venture is a significant investment by Tekkorp Capital and one that I am very excited about. We’re sure this is a good bet for Tekkorp Capital.”
Robin Chhabra, a leading M&A adviser in the digital gaming sector as well as founding CEO of FOX Bet, a joint venture between FOX Corporation and The Stars Group, and a former Board Director of Matt Tripp’s BetEasy, said: “The Australian online sports betting market has been booming but is ripe for innovation and competition. This consortium has the mix of skills, experience, and capital to become a significant player.”
