As the deposit cap expires, the Swedish regulator will look into marketing and product limits.

Swedish Gambling Inspectorate

Sweden’s government has released more information about the investigation that gaming regulator Spelinspektionen will perform into future protection measures in the country, ahead of the temporary relaxation of new coronavirus (Covid-19) restrictions.

The interim Covid-19 limits went into effect in June 2020, with a deposit cap of SEK5,000 ($575) on online casinos and a bonus cap of SEK100.

The measures were supposed to run until the end of 2020, but as the pandemic progressed, they were extended to June 2021 and then again until November. However, the administration announced last month that the limits would be lifted on November 14th.

When the government announced the end of the measures, it directed Spelinspektionen to conduct an in-depth analysis of the interim laws and their impact on the country’s regulated market.
