Backers of proposed legislation that would have allowed Texas citizens to choose whether they wanted destination resorts with casino operations in the state’s largest cities have come away empty-handed.
The support of one of the gaming industry’s biggest players also wasn’t enough to sway Austin politicians.
But, House Joint Resolution 133 remained pending in the Texas House Committee on State Affairs.
The legislation sought to amend the Texas Constitution to create a Texas Gaming Commission to oversee the licensing casinos.
