Despite a lack of clarity on how the government will enforce its federal gambling regulations, Brazil’s Senate Commission on Economic Affairs has accepted a tax proposal on online gaming.
Rodrigo Pacheco, President of the Senate Chamber, warned that “while the debate won’t happen anytime soon,” interested parties should be informed about the types of taxes that would be imposed if the federal gaming measure receives final approval.
Should the Senate give its final go light, the “organization, administration, or exploitation of skill games and online games, such as poker or chess,” will be subject to a tax.
