Connecticut: Mashantuckets’ new business development arm declares first acquisitions

Mashantuckets

During the COVID-19 pandemic, which forced Foxwoods Resort Casino to close for the first time, the Mashantucket Pequot Tribe stepped up its diversification efforts, hiring a chief executive officer to lead Command Holdings, a business-development company that had been in the works since 2017.

The new entity emerged from the shadows, announcing the acquisition of CeLeen LLC, an information technology firm based near St. Louis, Mo., and Quattro Consulting LLC, a Washington, D.C.-based firm that provides services to government organisations.

“We’ve been looking to expand outside gaming since Day One,” said Mashantucket chairman Rodney Butler. “Having to shut down during the pandemic validated the theory. We already knew it was hypothetically correct that we have to be involved in other things.”
