Costa Rica regulator gets proposals to operate online gambling

Costa Rica

The Social Protection Board (JPS) of Costa Rica has reported that it is analyzing five proposals to obtain online gambling licenses, including sports betting and electronic lottery.

Receiving offers from both national and international operators began on March 16 and ended in April start.  According to Teletica, the JPS received five offers, and a legal representative submitted a proposal via an official letter.

Each operator chosen by the JPS will require to pay a deposit (between $100k – $200k) and a guarantee of $250k.

The JPS President said that the institution aims to ensure that revenue reaches the 500 social programs. It is because it seeks to help vulnerable people. Also, they benefit from the money that comes from the commercialization of these products.”
