Croupiers at the Montreal Casino went on strike for four hours late Saturday afternoon in a show of solidarity amid a standstill in negotiations.
Croupiers placed their cards on the table and marched out the door at 4 p.m. to protest the stalemate in contract negotiations in front of the Notre Dame Island casino.
The collective agreement for 521 croupiers ended on March 31, with pay and timetables among the issues at risk.
The strike was scheduled to go until 8 p.m. Saturday, but Loto-Québec, which manages the province’s casinos, said the gaming tables are still operational with the exception of the poker area, which is temporarily closed.
