European Casino Association reports 20,000+ jobs losses in Covid-19 pandemic

The European Casino Association (ECA) called for further support for the land-based industry. It was after releasing figures showing, in the 900 ECA casinos in Europe, staff numbers would fall from 70,000 at the start of 2020 to around 50,000.

According to the recent survey of ECA members, 70% of European casinos are still not operational due to the pandemic.

The worst-affected casinos, such as those in Sweden, shut down for a year, according to the ECA.

According to the survey, land-based casinos will lose an average of more than 37% of normal operating days in 2020. While European land-based operators’ revenues dropped by more than 50% last year.
