After discussions with staff representatives, Finland’s government-owned gaming company Veikkaus has decided to cut up to 200 jobs. However, up to 830 employees will be affected by new employment contracts.
Veikkaus cited the current operating environment has changed over the past years with its business volume dropping. This necessitates a ‘size adjustment’ to manning levels in order to run ‘more efficiently.’
It stated that when its new Casino Tampere opens in December, it will be able to offer jobs.
“We will plan the changes in a way that emphasizes our care for people in order to offer new jobs to as many Veikkaus employees as possible,” said Jari Heino, Veikkaus Director of Channels and Sales. One concrete example is Casino Tampere, which will open in December. It will employ approximately 50 gaming industry professionals in a completely new type of casino.”
