The Finnish government has made proposals to Parliament regarding the country’s Lottery Act, which is in charge of gaming market regulation.
The goal of the reforms, according to the Ministry of the Interior, is to “reduce the disadvantages of gambling.” Non-Veikkaus operators who direct their advertising to the Finnish market would face payment blocking under the new bill. The police would keep a list of gambling companies that should have their payment transactions blocked by banks and other payment service providers.
Under the new proposals, mandatory identification – already introduced to Veikkaus slots earlier this year – will also extend to all forms of gambling.
