Antti Kurvinen (Cen), Minister of Science and Culture, has suggested that revenues from the state-owned gambling monopoly Veikkaus should transfer to the state budget.
Kurvinen stated that the betting agency’s income is declining. He added that if nothing changes, so will the income of charities and other groups that benefit from its profits. Organizations that promote culture, sports, science, and youth work get Veikkaus profits.
Also, Kurvinen proposed beginning the change in early 2024.
Kurvinen appointed Minister of Science and Culture at the end of May. He further stated that he researched the issue of Veikkaus’ income distribution and met it with several gambling revenue beneficiaries.
