Four women have been arrested in Macau for defrauding a local casino of more than HK$2 million (US$258,000).
One female dealer and three female accomplices took HK$2.2 million from a casino in Cotai over two weeks.
Supervisors at the casino reportedly noticed suspicious behavior involving the women. Then they quickly discovered that the dealer started games at her baccarat game table with no gamblers or other staff present. After learning the outcome of the game, her accomplices would appear at the table and place bets. And the dealer would payout winnings ranging from HK$60,000 to HK$150,000.
According to articles 336 and 340 of the Macau Penal Code, the four women are now in the Public Prosecutions Office. While the casino employee faces up to eight years in prison for embezzlement.
