After conducting an investigation into betting practices at the UEFA European Championship 2020, France’s regulator, L’Autorité Nationale des Jeux (ANJ), has issued a warning to operators. According to the regulator, they “crossed a line” in terms of the volume of advertisements.
There was the discovery of “questionable practices” during the tournament’s run. It also included targeting young people in gambling advertising and excessive gambling advertising. After this, ANJ gathered several sports betting operators to hear its review of marketing practices.
The ANJ sent two messages to operators. One was about the high number of sports betting advertising campaigns. While the other was about discouraging marketing communications that encourage young people to gamble.
