Spain’s Minister of Consumer Affairs, Alberto Garzón, has revealed his department’s aims. The goal is to examine the country’s gambling tax regime. The examination will be across all sectors.
Garzón made this statement during an interview. The channel was Europa Press radio. He revealed that Spain’s Ministry of Consumer Affairs had studied potential new formulas. The formulas are about tax gambling and sports betting operators.
Garzón said that any tax review would require clearance from Spain’s Ministry of Finance. It will implement fiscal change in a licensed sector.
Garzón also has stated its tax review intentions. He made these to the Treasury. He further said that they had put no specific project on the table as yet.
For the rest of 2021, Garzón said that his department would focus on working with Spain’s government. They will facilitate to execution of the latest federal standards by improving gambling protections.
Last December, Spain’s autonomous governments agreed to form a technical body. The body must support the Ministry of Consumer Affairs and Spanish gambling regulator DGOJ.
The objectives set by the ministry include
Creation of a federal self-exclusion scheme.
An online gambling player registry
Unified land-based gambling venue laws across all communities.
