Sports data technology business Genius Sports has agreed to purchase free-to-play games and fan engagement solutions business FanHub Media Holdings.
The deal’s terms were not disclosed, but it was confirmed that Genius would buy FanHub’s free-to-play games. It includes fantasy sports, trivia, bracket challenges, pick ’em, and polling games.
FanHub, founded in 2012, operates in Australia, the UK, the US, and Ukraine. It provides technology solutions based on its three core service offerings: games, betting, and social activation.
Moreover, FanHub has partnerships with several leading sports properties. The National Football League, Major League Baseball, and betting operators Betway and PointsBet are some examples.
Genius will integrate FanHub’s solutions across its media services, content solutions which the company claims will help drive customer activity and lower cost per acquisition.
Furthermore, Genius stated that the new free-to-play games portfolio will assist it in delivering tailored marketing campaigns, as well as live odds, rich data and statistics, video highlights, and messaging.
The deal might close before the end of the current quarter, subject to customary closing conditions.
Genius Sports CEO said, “The acquisition of FanHub will provide our sports and betting partners with new exciting platforms.”
“We are excited to join the Genius Sports family and thrilled about the potential opportunities for our clients and staff,” FanHub founder, chairman, and CEO Tim Lamb added.
