The bill setting out a 5.3% turnover tax online poker and slots in Germany was issued to the Bundestag’s Finance, Legal Affairs, and Consumer Protection and Sports Committees as the problematic proposal moves through the legislature.
Under the country’s new State Treaty on Gambling, the bill lays out the tax structure for online slots and poker. Following the ratification by all 16 federal states, the new regulatory model will take effect on July 1st.
The Bundesrat drafted it, the federal body that represents Germany’s states. But the Bundestag must approve it before being implemented.
