The flood-damaged Bad Neuenahr casino will be closed for three years. It will have to be rebuilt in a different part of town because effective protection there is no longer available.
Michael Seegert, Managing Director of Spielbank Bad Neuenahr, told ISA- GUIDE: “There was massive destruction in the entire Ahr valley. Therefore, it appears that no casino will be able to operate in Bad Neuenahr for two to three years.”
All infrastructure has been destroyed. There are no restaurants, and all access roads up to the highways have been severely damaged. However, Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler and the operating company, have agreed that a casino should be built again in Bad Neuenahr.”
The casino’s west wing has been severely damaged. And structural engineers have deemed its future questionable. The casino’s slot machine section on the ground floor was flooded to the ceiling. The insurance expert also declared the company’s slot machines a total loss.
