Casinos in Chile have released their financial results for December and the entire year. Despite operating at a lower capacity, the casinos not only showed indications of revival but also exceeded financial projections for 2019.
The casinos’ gross revenues were $355 million in 2021, and $55.5 million in December. Revenues in the last month of 2021 increased by 10% over the same month in 2019 and are 4.5 times greater than those in 2020, according to the regulator, the Superintendency of Gambling Casinos (SCJ).
Revenues in 2021 are expected to be around 65 percent of what they were in 2019. However, the recent trend shows that Chilean casinos are no longer recuperating, since they are competing and exceeding pre-pandemic levels.
