Ireland: Paddy Power ex-CEO calls gambling a ‘serious social problem’

Paddy Power

Stewart Kenny has always enjoyed gambling. He placed one of his first bets on Richard Nixon resigning in 1974. And he’s enjoyed betting ever since – so much so that he’s made a career out of it, spanning four decades.

He was one of the original founders of Paddy Power in 1988. But the 69-year-old now has a very different perspective.

He told Prime Time that Ireland is so far behind in regulating the gambling industry. He also said that there is no protection for the young and vulnerable.

When it comes to regulating the gambling industry, the former CEO of Paddy Power stated that “governments for the last 20 years have been totally negligent.”
