Melco Resorts Received Responsible Gaming Certificate for Casino Portfolio

Melco Resorts was regarded for its commitment to responsible gambling. The company has integrated casino resorts in China’s Macau, the Philippines, and Europe soon.

The Hong Kong-based casino giant recently announced that it is the first integrated resort (IR) operating in Macau and the Philippines to receive an “RG Check” from the Responsible Gambling Council (RGC).

The RGC, based in Ontario, Canada, describes the RG Check as “the world’s most comprehensive and rigorous responsible gaming accreditation program.”

The RG Check allows patrons to know that the casino follows the highest levels of responsible gaming standards.

Melco’s entire portfolio, including Altira Macau, City of Dreams Macau, Studio City, and City of Dreams Manila, has received RG Checks. Also, accreditations from RG Check are valid for three years.

 Importance of Responsible Gaming

The Responsible Gambling Council (RGC) is an independent nonprofit organization. It is committed to preventing problem gambling harms. The group supports regulations that integrate casinos into communities that want to legalize gambling.

Furthermore, the RG Check accreditation process consists of eight key areas. According to the RGC, the casino and operator must understand how gambling can harm some people, offer a well-managed self-exclusion program, facilitate responsible money transfers and/or gaming credit, and have a gaming floor that discourages impulsive play.

Additionally, casinos must also provide programs for gamblers who may be in danger and provide relevant training for employees to detect gaming addictions better. Also, they must run a marketing and advertising campaign that does not mislead or target potentially vulnerable players.

RG Checked Casinos

the RGC has recently begun offering its responsible gaming RG Check certificates for casinos outside Canada.

Resorts World Sentosa in Singapore was the first integrated resort casino to receive the RG Check-in December of 2018. Last October, Marina Bay Sands, also in Singapore, became the second.

Also, the PokerStars.com online gaming platform is the only other casino firm with an RG Check outside of Canada.
