Jim Phillips, the athletic director at Northwestern, opposed the legalization of college sports betting. Phillips, as ACC commissioner, now has to prepare the conference and its member schools for that very possibility.
“We’re all trying to grab this thing before it spins too fast,” Phillips said. “I don’t know if I’ve moved significantly away from that stance since a few years ago, but what I would say is that it’s going to take a more concerted effort by all of us to try to get to the right place as it relates to sports wagering.”
