Christopher Bell has been named Non-Executive Chairman of Nueva Codere’s Board of Directors.
Bell was suggested by Nueva Codere’s board of directors because of his “in-depth knowledge and senior management experience” in the gaming, sports betting and regulated hospitality businesses.
The proposal for Christopher’s appointment is subject to the approval of the shareholders’ general meeting on 7 February, in which the Group will also resolve the construction of its Board of Directors and the business plan for the Group.
“Codere has demonstrated over the past 40 years its fundamental strength, versatility and leadership. It is exciting to be a part of this project and promote this new stage that the company has initiated, in its way back to a growth path and consolidation as a leading multinational in the private gambling industry.
“I am truly honored for the trust placed in me and committed to the creation of value after this difficult period. The company has a management team and talent that will undoubtedly encourage its promising potential,” said Bell.
Bell currently serves on the boards of Team17 Group PLC, OnTheMarket PLC, and The Royal Airforce Charitable Trust as a Non-Executive Director. In order to commit the time required for his work at Codere, he will stand down from his roles as Chair of XLMedia PLC and Senior Independent Director of Rank Group PLC.
Bell worked at Hilton Group PLC / Ladbrokes PLC for nearly two decades, rising through the ranks of the business’s Board of Directors from 2001 to 2006, when he was appointed CEO of Ladbrokes PLC, a FTSE 100 company, following the sale of the Hilton Hotels segment, a post he held until 2010.
Chris has also served as Chairman of Game Group PLC and Technfinancials PLC, as well as Senior Independent Director of Quintain Estates and Development PLC, NED Spirit Pub Company PLC, and Gaming Realms PLC, since 2009.
