The legalization of internet gambling and sports betting in Peru by the Congress creates a new, regulated structure for both industries.
After a parliamentary discussion, the approval was granted on July 15. The verticals were approved by a statute that received 91 yes votes and 0 no votes.
The new law will fall under the purview of Peru’s Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur), which is also in charge of overseeing its implementation there.
The gaming tax will be assessed each month at a rate of 12 percent of each operator’s tax base, which is calculated as net income less maintenance expenses. A monthly operator’s income will be taxed at a rate of 2% for maintenance expenses.
