Scientific Games announced that it submitted a proposal to the Board of Directors to acquire the remaining 19% equity in SciPlay. SciPlay will become a wholly-owned subsidiary of the gambling products and services provider if the all-stock transaction approves.
Scientific Games currently owns SciPlay, a developer and publisher of digital games on mobile and web platforms. It also owns approximately 81 percent of the economic interest and 98 percent of the voting interest.
Moreover, the bid to purchase SciPlay’s remaining equity comes just weeks after the Las Vegas-based company announced on June 29 that it was divesting its sports betting and lottery businesses. The divestment is the result of a strategic review that began in September 2020.
