The Canadian Premier League is about to become interactive. Following the footsteps of other professional sports leagues around the world, the CPL will incorporate betting components into its product. Thus, allowing viewers to wager on various aspects of individual games.
On Thursday, MEDIAPRO Canada, which owns the CPL’s broadcast rights, announced a partnership with Genius Sports Limited for exclusive rights to distribute video streams from CPL and Canadian Championship games. This increases the league’s exposure outside of Canada.
Furthermore, fans will be able to place bets on CPL games beginning in 2022. This coincides with the Canadian government’s plans to legalize single-game betting across the country.
