South Korea – Mohegan Gaming plans to launch Inspire Korea in second quarter of 2023

Mohegan Gaming & Entertainment has stated that the second quarter of 2023 is the most likely date for the opening of its US$1.6 billion Inspire Korea integrated resort.

Bobby Soper, International President of Gaming Laboratories International, said he was close to securing funding for the project during an interview for the Illuminating Conversations series.

“My goal is to close that transaction in the very near future, remobilize, start construction, and open in 2023,” he said, adding that the opening would ‘hopefully [take place] in the second quarter of 2023, or third quarter at the latest 2023.”

“It’s been a rollercoaster, we’ve had our ups and downs, and COVID certainly threw a curve ball,” Mr Soper said. But we’re in the ground, and we’ve put a lot of money into it. We need to finalize some of the final financing, which I just spent two months pursuing in Korea. I believe we are well on our way. It’s a fantastic opportunity.”

“It is gaming, but keep in mind that Greater Seoul has a population of 28 million people. Paradise opened in Incheon as well, with a MICE and hotel focus, but we are more focused on entertainment. That is the essence of our brand.”
