Crown Resorts has appointed Steve McCann as its new CEO and Managing Director, subject to regulatory and probity approvals.
McCann, the current Group CEO of real estate and investment group Lendlease Corporation Limited, will retire from the board on May 31, 2021. He will join Crown on June 1, 2021.
Helen Coonan will remain in her position as Executive Chairman until Mr. McCann receives the requisite approvals.
“Steve is a first-class appointment for Crown and the right individual to embed the ongoing changes needed to restore regulatory and public confidence in our operations,” Coonan said.
“Recognized as one of Australia’s most admired business leaders, Steve has a mix of political, financial, and corporate governance experience. He also has an expertise in a track record of driving cultural change.”
Moreover, until joining Lendlease in 2005 as CEO of Investment Management, McCann held senior leadership positions at ABN AMRO and Bankers Trust. Also, in 2007, he was appointed Group Finance Director, and in 2008, he was appointed Group CEO.
McCann commented: “I am looking forward to joining Crown at an important time for the organization. I see a real opportunity to drive substantial shareholder value as the company faces challenges and recovers from the pandemic.”
