Marcus Boyle, Chairman of the UK Gambling Commission (UKGC), stated in his first public comment that UK gambling deserves a stricter regulatory supervisor.

Boyle noted in an op-ed for The Times that his original focus had been on “finding good adjustments for both customers and the industry,” indicating that the sector required better regulation.

Boyle, who was appointed in September to replace Bill Moyes, whose tenure as Chairman of the UKGC was marred by the fallout from the Football Index scandal, said that he would not wait for the government to complete its White Paper assessment of suggestions in order to reform the sector.
