The Senate approved gaming compact in Florida

Florida

The Florida Senate has approved a compact that will allow the Sa to offer sports betting in the US state.

On May 18, the Florida Senate passed Senate Bill 2-A by a vote of 38-1. It paved the way for it to move into the House for further discussion.

The compact, which was announced in late April, would allow the Seminole Tribe to run sports betting in Florida exclusively, with approval to partner with the state’s pari-mutuel operators.

Senator Travis Hutson of Florida introduced a bill last week to implement the compact. But lawmakers were concerned about a provision related to online gambling.

According to the original version of the compact, the tribe, and the state would “engage in good faith negotiations” within the next three years. It will then allow the tribe to offer online casino gaming.
