US – Commercial gaming revenue in US reaches new highs

Gaming

According to the AGA Commercial Gaming Revenue Tracker, nationwide commercial gaming revenue from traditional casino games, sports betting, and iGaming exceeded $13.6 billion in the second quarter of 2021, breaking the previous quarterly revenue record set in the third quarter of 2019.

When compared to the COVID-impacted Q2 2020, second-quarter gaming revenue increased nearly 500%. In a more accurate comparison, Q2 2021 was 26.3% higher than the same quarter in 2019. Second-quarter revenue increased by 22.6 percent over Q1 2021, owing to increased capacity and strong overall consumer spending trends.

Nonetheless, gaming revenue is only a subset of total casino revenue. Other segments, such as live entertainment, dining and hotel bookings have yet to fully recover in the second quarter.
