Newburgh’s Town Board has unanimously approved a deal between Monticello Raceway Management and Resorts World Hudson Valley to bring video lottery terminals and an electronic casino to the Newburgh Mall in Orange County, New York.
Genting Malaysia currently owns Resorts World New York City and Resorts World Catskills in Sullivan County. Moreover, it will invest $32m to relocate was VLT operating license from Monticello Raceway.
“Newburgh Mall is struggling to attract occupants,” said Newburgh Town Supervisor Gil Piaquadio. This will be the first and only licensed facility of such kind in Newburgh and Orange County.”
Genting intends to run 1,300 video lottery terminals at the site, as well as Resort World’s signature lounge, Bar 360. It will also create 200 to 225 full-time jobs, with annual salaries averaging $74,000 with benefits. The VLT location will generate $3 million in annual host fees, dividing it between the Town of Newburgh and Orange County.
