VinGroup, Vietnam’s real estate development giant, has officially opened its long-awaited new US$2.8 billion resort in Phu Quoc.

The Phu Quoc United Center is a super tourism resort entertainment complex. It covers more than 1,000 hectares and provides approximately 12,000 hotel rooms from various 5-star hotel brands.

The resort costs VND66 trillion (US$2.85 billion). It comprises VinWonders Phu Quoc, an animal conservation park, an 18-hole golf course, a shopping and entertainment district, MICE facilities, multimedia shows, 24-hour street markets, and a hospital. It also includes Vietnam’s largest theme park too.

“With an ecosystem to fulfill lavish lifestyle, and world-class entertainment industry, Phu Quoc United Center will be a top resort. Not only a resort, a great business and luxury product in Vietnam,” VinGroup said in a recent statement.

“The ‘Sleepless City’ model of Phu Quoc United Center lays the foundation for Vietnam’s night-time economic development. Moreover, it also marks a significant step forward in establishing Vietnam as a new international tourist destination.”

VinGroup’s new Phu Quoc resort opens just days after one of its subsidiaries, leisure and hospitality firm Vinpearl Co, announced a proposal to build a new US$2.2 billion integrated resort with a casino on Hon Tre Island in Khanh Hoa Province. If approved, the development would also include a 1,200-room 5-star hotel, a convention center, a transportation system, and the preparation of a site for the development of additional 5- and 6-star hotels.
